How are the two accounts taxed differently?
HSA reimbursements are 100% tax-free for the employee and tax-deductible for the corporation. WSA reimbursements are tax-deductible for the corporation but are considered a taxable benefit for the employee.
Can employees change their split mid-year?
no. The allocation is locked in at the beginning of the plan year (or upon hiring). They can adjust their split during the next renewal period.
Do I need to decide the split for my employees?
No. You simply set the total annual limit. The employee decides how much of that total goes towards their health spending limit versus their wellness spending limit based on their personal needs.
What happens if an employee doesn't use their funds?
The funds remain with your company. Since FlexWorks only debits you for approved claims, you never lose money on unused benefits or have cash tied up.
